Take Care Of Your Email List – Sorry Nic!

Posted: 17 Jan 2011 08:10 AM PST

Over the last few years, I have built up a decent size email list that targets the Internet Marketing (IM), SEO, PPC, Affiliate, Blogosphere  . . . niche.

One of the interesting things about my list, is that I have never promoted shady clickbank products or those all too famous “free traffic blue prints” that you see floating around.

Well, a few weeks ago that all changed. I was looking to build up a new set of potential clients because we had hit a few walls in terms of generating new prospects for our core SEO products. My grand idea was to use a service called Safe-Swaps and start trading with people who had similar email list sizes as my own.

What I found initially was that my email list generated far more clicks than the people I was trading with. Almost double to be exact. . . that hit me hard because I knew then the kind of quality list that i had produced.

The men / women on the other side of my list actually read what I wrote. They looked for some kind of direction, and I was abusing that.

So this morning as I was reading my emails, I came across one from Nic who put me in my place with regards to my recent email ad swaps.

Really?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems like this is really out of context of what you usually mail out. You usually at least send things I want to read more about.

This… What the hell is this?

OUCH! – Nic was dead on right. . . and I had to eat crow.

Hey Nic,

Your right!

I had signed up with a program called Safe-Swaps, and this email had confirmed what I already knew . . . that the men / women behind the MetaFever email list are a cut above the rest.

I will be writing a blog post and using this email in it to show why you should really take great care of your list.

Rest assured, you won’t get another email from me unless it’s because we have something that we have built ourselves or I am giving out something I have learned.

Thanks for helping correct this . . .

Cheers,

Michael

So at the end of the day, do the right thing and protect your list. If you have quality information, tip, or tricks then send it their way. Realize that your email list recipients email box are already full of crap, and they really don’t need one more bogus email.

Here is a promise to my email list.

I will never send you an email unless I think there is something in there that could be of real benefit to you.

What do you think, how do you manage your own email list?
